  1. Kia Ora Andrew,

Well done for starting the ball rolling by completing another Summer Learning Journey activity! I see that you've gone to the beginning and taken on the challenge of finding three facts about Maui, ka pai Andrew!

I'm curious about your first question; why do you think that Maui got mad at his brothers? And he certainly did like to trick his brothers by surprising them, didn't he? Maui is actually renowned for being the "Demi-God Trickster" and there are many tales about him using his trickery to his advantage.
There's an awesome story about Maui trying to trick Hine-nui-te-po, the Goddess of night and death. He has this awesome ability to shape shift, and uses this ability to shape shift in to a worm and crawl in to the mouth of Hine-nui-te-po while she's sleeping. However, a piwakawaka (the fantail) laughs at Maui, and wakes Hine-nui-te-po. She swallows Maui and defeats him.

    Isn't mythology wonderful?
Have you read any other stories about Maui?

Keep up the great work Andrew,

    Cheers,

    Jordan.

  3. Hello Andrew,

Those are some brilliant facts Andrew! Ka pai! Don’t forget to make your blog stand out by including photos, links, or even videos if you have anything cool you would like to share with your blog readers.

Maybe you could share with us some other stories about Maui that you know of? My favourite would be Maui slowing down the sun. What is yours?

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Cadence :)
